Starting a Plating Business? Think Brush Plating.

Consider Brush Plating to Start Your Plating Business.

Brush Plating is a good beginning for those who are interested in starting their own plating business. It is affordable and can teach the beginner what is involved in doing his or her own plating and anodizing.

Brush Plating Teaches You the Basics.

Brush plating offers the option of learning the technical aspects of plating without spending great amounts of time and money in building a tank plating line. Even a small tank line involves large amounts of hazardous chemicals that will need to be disposed of should you decide not continue in the plating business. Brush plating offers more varieties of metals to plate and uses far less chemicals than tank lines.

Brush Plating is Affordable.

With as little as $2,500 you can get into plating nickel and gold. For less than $5,000 you can start plating gold, nickel, silver, copper, tin and chrome. You can even do aluminum anodizing.

Brush plating gets you into the business now! Once you receive your system you can be plating in hours. You do not have to build a shop or do plumbing or electrical. You do have to have some training and learn about handling hazardous chemicals and chemical wastes. But the learning curve with brush plating is much less than tank plating.

Cheap Brush Plating Kits are Toys and not a Business!

Yes, I know if you search the internet you can find cheap brush plating kits. But the reality is that paying $250 or $500 will buy you very little because the power supplies and chemicals in that price range only allow you to play games and not really learn how to electroplate and anodize. These brush plating kits are little more than toys and will not teach you how to get into the plating business. In all likelihood they may discourage you more than help you. This is because brush plating with a hobby style kit is not suitable for serious business. These kits will be frustrating - while plating with a system designed for industrial and larger commercial applications gives much better results and speed.

Brush Plating is a Business unto Itself.

A high quality brush plating system is not just a stepping stone. Rather it is a system that you will be able to use as your plating business grows. Even if you move up to a full tank plating system, your brush plater will still give you the ability to offer your customers more services.

The best money in brush plating is not chrome. Getting $50 or $60 per hour doing small auto parts is not going to happen. Also doing quality chrome plating is as much about good polishing as it is about plating. The real money in brush plating and anodizing is to do industrial finishing and service work in specialty industries.

Try plating silver or gold on electronic components or brush anodize aluminum structures, then gold plate selective contact points as shown in the photo - you can make much better money than trying to convince people to gold plate their car emblems or wheels.

But let's say that you are already in the automotive & motorcycle industry and you really are only interested in chrome and nickel plating. I will still suggest that your logical first step is to consider brush plating. Why? Because you can get into the business and learn without mortgaging the farm and not even add floor space. A typical high quality brush plating kit requires little more room than the parts to be plated and a work bench.

Brush Plating & Anodizing for Machine Shops and Aerospace

Doing dimensional rebuilding using brush nickel plating for machine shops and aerospace firms is another business that beats commercial chrome. You can become trained & certified to do Mil-Spec and FAA plating using plating and anodizing systems & chemistry that meet industry standards.

To sum it up, brush plating and brush anodizing offer an affordable entry into the world of electroplating and anodizing. Brush plating as a business is to be taken seriously and not to be considered a hobby.
